Some of you may know this - but I want to share that my sister died on Monday, June 9. She had been ill from pulmonary embolism, possibly caused by meds. I don’t think the exact cause was determined - may have been from the blood clots or perhaps a heart attack. You may remember Missie from high school and I want you to know about this. We made the trip to Vernon, Tex for her service and it was good to see family, but not in this circumstance.
Here’s a link to her obituary - http://www.timesrecordnews.com/news/2014/jun/10/missie-true-matthews-obit/And below are a couple of things I posted on Facebook. I’ve heard from a couple of Georgetown friends about recently losing their siblings - Scottie Hodges McGraw and Patsy Ayers. We’re at that age -Take care everyone - and hugs to all of you. Here are my FB posts -
I'm very sad to share the news that my sister Missie True Matthews died this morning in Lawton, Ok where they lived. Funny that just the other day I found this photo of the 3 of us - Missie, our brother Conrad and me. They're both gone now. Hard to believe. We had such a close and loving and happy family - I'm cherishing the memories of our good times. Sending much love to all her family. Life is fragile - enjoy every day.
We're home from a fast trip to say a final goodbye to my sister. I was blessed with growing up with a very special big sister - Missie True Matthews I always thought she was the most gifted and talented and beautiful person I ever knew. Except for maybe my big brother Conrad True. Oh my - I did have amazing role models in my older siblings. Missie was a gifted musician - she was even studied by a renowned jazz pianist when she was a little girl. My parents took her to this man in Corpus Christi for piano lessons when she was ~ 10 years old and he ended up trying to understand her inborn talents. She never was good at reading music but played by instinct and I took lesson for ~ 10 years, always trying to do what she did naturally. She was an amazing athlete. My Dad who was also an accomplished athlete, was sooo proud of her. I remember my Dad talking about how she'd walk onto the volleyball court and be primping her hair and pulling on her shorts and be oh so lady-like - and then just slam the ball down on the opponents. She was always the "captain of the all star team." She had many friends and made people laugh. Several friends have said that now she's with my Mom, Dad and Conrad and my reaction was - Damn - they're having a great party without me! I hope they are - I'll wait a while to join them. I loved them all
