We have another Relay for LIfe team for our 1967 Georgetown Eagles class and I told Sarah and Joyce that I'd help promote it to our email group.  I just signed up for the team and made a donation at this link -  


If you want to join the team, you have to do it by Mar 8.  It costs $10 - and you get a t-shirt!!  Woo hoo!!!  You do NOT have to join to donate to our team.  You can just make a donation to anyone on the team, or to the team itself.  

The older we get, the more people we know who've lost their battle with cancer.  Our class first had a presence in the G'town Relay for Life after Jan and Peggy died in the same year.  I've seen photos of our classmates walking at the event and it's made me homesick for the fun times we all shared.  If you can do it, please consider helping us raise some money to fight this terrible disease.  Or - please consider donating to a Relay for Life in your own area, wherever you live.  Jan was a HUGE supporter of the Relay for Life in Reno where she lived (chaired it for a while), and she used her charm to get me and so many others to contribute to that.  So I'm trying to use any charm I have to keep her efforts going!

Remember - if you want to join the team, you need to do that by this Thurs, Mar 8.  But you can donate without doing that.  If you're close to Georgetown you might want to do the walk!!  Please forward to anyone who might want to join our "fun."

Thanks Claudia, I just attended a meeting last night and was thinking I needed to send out another email. Your message was great and we have had donations from Sharon Tays and Chris Henry. I will be sending out more reminders and encouragement for support. Hope all is well with you and yours. Thanks again.
FYI - Joyce Fleischer Nunn and her mom were both under the weather. Joyce is better, but her mom was put in the hospital with pneumonia.

Thanks for the reminder.  I just went and made my donation. I won't be able to attend the event. We have a class down in Goliad that weekend.  Thank you all for your work to secure donations. This is such an important effort. We are lucky that Billy and Dawn had thyroid cancer - one of the "best" cancers to have. So many of our friends and family have been affected by other types of cancer. We have to continue the fight to find a cure.  I hope the weather is good for the event.  Bless you all!

Great to hear we're getting some donations. I'm so sorry to hear about Joyce's Mom. Hasn't she been struggling with health issues? Joyce - hope she improves soon. I'll send out a note to some of Jan's friends who've helped us in the past.

Sharon - I know we'd all like to hear how you're doing. Great to be celebrating survivors in our group! How long ago was it that you had your own cancer challenge? Judy Whitfield - you're an example of celebrating family members who are cancer survivors! I guess my husband is also a cancer survivor now - he recently had a melanoma removed from his back. Looks like it was in the earliest and least intrusive of stages and we're thankful. Good reminder to all of us to check our moles etc.

Sarah - again thanks to you and Joyce for being our fearless leaders! Hope we gets lots of donations!!

I'm copying people who aren't in the ghs67 google mail group - and encourage you to join us. You don't want to miss any solicitations for $$ !!! Or just some good gossip. Usually I send things bcc but these email addresses are all in our reunion book from 2007. I don't have emails for many people and I"m sure some of these are out of date. This is the last time I'll bug you about joining our group - we'd love to have you all!!

Thanks so much, Al!  Here's the link for donating if any of the rest of you are able to help.  Remember - if you're in the area and an walk during the Relay, it's a fun and moving thing to do.  You don't have to walk the whole time.  The part that really gets me at these events is the luminary walk - survivors do a lap together.  Wish I was there to join the group -  Every little donation counts.  Thanks!
