Hi folks,

Confirmed bring backs to the shelter:
  • Beth Cochran will bring Chessie & Easter to the Rabbit Center on Saturday.
  • Frances Hinson should be bringing Mario and Chipper back to the Rabbit Center today or tomorrow, I believe.

Here's the Petco movement summary:

Duluth: Victor Valentin/Jen Foley will take a bunny to Duluth Petco this Saturday. They already have a rug, they will need papaya, Kaytee Exact Rainbow treats, and food. They have probios and a carpet.

Lithonia: Julie Bowen will pick up Jethro on Saturday and bring him to the Rabbit Center ahead of her Bunny 101 class. She will then take another rabbit back after class. We should have 3 carpet pieces ready to go, she can take one of them. They will let her know what supplies they need on Saturday morning when she's there.

Milton: Lisa Secondino will bring back Keifer on Saturday, and then bring back a different bunny the same day. Rose/Stephanie - I think we're out of carpet (as in, it's been all cut up), and the Milton Petco has a different shape hex pen, if I remember correctly - do I need to get more carpet and cut a new piece? Just let me know!

So lots of transition on Saturday, but I will be at the shelter to help coordinate this.

Next up at Petco/PetsMart:

PetsMart - I've reached out to Terri Smith to find out her availability. Lola & Skeeter will come back, and either Hansel & Gretal or Chessie & Easter will replace them.

Acworth: Johna, we're at 4 weeks, but we're still sorting out which rabbit will swap with Edna. So right now, nothing to do yet!

Marietta: Edie, no rush, we're still sorting out which rabbit will swap with Tanner. So right now, nothing to do yet!

Alpharetta: Barbara has emailed me about switching Susie, we're still sorting out which rabbit will swap with Susie.

We're trying not to send a rabbit to the Petcos/PetSmarts more than once, and we only have so many rabbits at the Rabbit Center that can switch with them.

Questions? Let me know!

Thanks,
Shelley

So are there other foster bunnies out there that can be traded and put those bunnies into petcos and let the foster home foster a different one?  Or are all the bunnies in foster homes now not eligible for adoption/petco?

I know I have medical bunnies - Sondra, Jackson and Amelia.  Amelia is responding well to the zithromax and is ready for a spay, but I think we need to wait till she's over the uri to do that.  She was mounting her little white bear tonight.  :)

Sondra's foot seems to be getting better, but I don't know how we're going to get her a home - she is bi-polar.  One minute throwing a temper tantrum and the next wanting pets.   I get a little nervous that she's going to bite my ankles if I walk past her in the play pen.  Not sure how anyone would cope with that in a home - she would sure keep everyone on their toes, not knowing when or where she would be darting out from to attack !!  Any bunny whisperers out there that are looking for a challenge?

Ronda

The best I can do is ask, but I think Henri and Nacho come from "one time" foster homes, no rotation possible. Happy to work them in when we can, just don't want to over-crowd the shelter or over-burden our shelter buns with Petco visits! This is what happens when we designate foster homes when we have no room for intakes - a lot of "one-stop-shops". We are increasing our "rotational" fosters, but Nacho and Henri are just being held until space opens up.

They can wait, but can be worked in when we have space!

Since we seem to be low on Petco bunnies and are doing some adoptions this week, should we get one of them in for a Petco?  If a Petco has to stay empty for a week or two then so be it.  We knew that with having this many Petcos, and the rotation and some bunnies not being suitable, then this could happen.   All we can do it try to balance the best that we can.

One other suggestion is to try and get bigger housing into the bigger Petco stores so we can put in bigger bunnies or pairs - that would open up options for us.

Edie - that's your ball park.  Can you find out what stores would be willing to do that and get the grant for the bigger stand-up hutches?  Even if only one or two that would be helpful.

I love that idea ronda.
I would like to be able to send bonded pairs to petco if they had bigger habitats

Update!

Confirmed bring backs to the shelter:
  • Beth Cochran will bring Chessie & Easter to the Rabbit Center on Saturday. - DONE
  • Frances Hinson should be bringing Mario and Chipper back to the Rabbit Center today or tomorrow, I believe. - DONE and surprise - they are bonded!
Here's the Petco movement summary:
Duluth: Victor Valentin/Jen Foley will take a bunny to Duluth Petco this Saturday.  - DONE, Malibu is now at the Duluth Petco
Lithonia: Julie Bowen will pick up Jethro on Saturday and bring him to the Rabbit Center ahead of her Bunny 101 class.  - DONE, Rosalee is now at the Lithonia Petco
Milton: Lisa Secondino will bring back Keifer on Saturday  -NOT DONE - poor Lisa broke her foot!! She'll pick up the bunny NEXT week.

Incoming: Megan (Rockwell) Carpenter will be bringing her foster bunny, Henri, back to the Rabbit Center on July 28th. If we have a pen ready for him, then likely no one needs to meet her at the Rabbit Center for this, as a former Resident Manager, I'm sure she knows the drill :). He can be a Petco bunny and swap out with the next wave!
