Synching issues...

I seem to have a problem with Synching from Ghost Action (and Missing
Sync on my PDA) back to iCal. I have created the new calendars with @
at the front as suggested and if I create a to-do item in one of these
and press Sync on Ghost Action it works flawlessly putting the new
item into GA (and to my PDA for that matter).

If I create an action in the same context on GA and Sync then iCal
doesn't update. I would not worry but Missing Sync looks at iCal so I
can only create ToDos in iCal and then export them to my various
preferred programs/devices which is obviously not ideal.

I know that this is probably a problem with iCal (Leopard v 3.0.1
(1205) and I have seen plenty of posts elsewhere on the web about
there being problems with Sync services but these appear to be from
the middle of 2006 and don't appear relevant.

If anyone has any ideas or can point me to a web page that solves this
problem I would be very grateful - GA appears to be just what I want
(I was bought David Allen's book for Christmas and I am a new
convert!) Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris,

First, make sure you are using 1.22a of Ghost Action. This should sync
to iCal on Leopard.

If you have the right version and it still doesn't work, try to backup
you iCal data from within iCal using File -> Backup iCal... Then do
File -> Restore iCal... This will reset the sync engine for iCal,
which seems to have become confused. Now try to sync with Ghost Action
again.

If this causes duplicate calendars, carefully remove the calendars
from iCal that doesn't have any data in them.

Best regards,

Hi Jacob,

Thanks for your quick reply. Almost as if by magic the syncing has
started to work! I have changed nothing, not restarted or anything, so
I am baffled with why it is now working when a few hours ago it was
not.

I have taken note of what you have said and I will remember that for
the future - any how I can at least now use my PDA to take notes while
I am away from my desk which was the main point.

Thanks again.

Chris
