A Remote Desktop Gateway (RD Gateway) lets you connect to a remote computer on a corporate network from anywhere on the Internet. You can create and manage your gateways in the preferences of the app or while setting up a new desktop connection.
There is a bug in macOS 10.14.0 and 10.14.1 that can cause the ".com.microsoft.rdc.application-data_SUPPORT/_EXTERNAL_DATA" folder (nested deep inside the /Library folder) to consume a large amount of disk space. To resolve this issue, delete the folder content and upgrade to macOS 10.14.2. Note that a side-effect of deleting the folder contents is that snapshot images assigned to bookmarks will be deleted. These images will be regenerated when reconnecting to the remote PC.
I have had good success with Microsoft Remote Desktop, but one tecious process is setting up the connections. We have to do that manually. I did see the article about scripting this and deploying it via Policy:
-to-create-a-microsoft-remote-desktop-8-connection/
Still experiencing this same issue.
I used to love BTT when I had my old mac. I spend much of my day working in Amazon Workspaces doing development for work. Therefore, I bought a new BTT license with the goal of creating many automations that would help my workflow.
However, I am experiencing the same issue as described above, namely that modifier keys are not passed through to the remote machine.
e.g.
two finger tip-tap-right mapped to Ctrl-C only passes in "C". This is the same issue with all modifier keys.
It seems that the same bug has been opened for many different remote desktop applications and use cases. See below:
By remotely accessing an ECN-supported desktop computer and refraining from storing your Purdue files locally on your laptop or home computer, your data remains safely stored in your home directory on ECN's network servers -- which receive daily backups.
Remote Desktop access: You will need to be added as an authorized Remote Desktop user to any Windows computers that you'd want to connect to. Contact Help for assistance with getting authorized as a remote desktop user on a computer.
After I am authorized on our company's site I am downloading the .ICA file.
When I click on it the Workspace application seems to connect - but no window opens with the remote desktop. It just stays like that active.
For Mac users, the stalwart tool has been the Microsoft Remote Desktop connection. Available through the Mac App Store, the free application allows Mac users to remotely connect to a Windows desktop to access local files, applications and network resources.
To start a session with a remote Windows desktop, double-click the connection to begin. With the connection properly configured, and once valid logon credentials are provided, the Windows system will display on the Mac (Figure J).
First, a secure tunnel has to be set up using ssh. The tunnel connects a local port to a remote port on a specific machine. The port we want here is 3389, which is the port of the remote desktop protocol.
This example logs in to ssh.strw.leidenuniv.nl and sets up the tunnel to host remote (the terminal server of the Sterrewacht). Instead of remote you can fill the name of your windows desktop computer:
Choose Download remote desktop file. Your browser prompts you to either open or save the RDP shortcut file. When you have finished downloading the file, choose Cancel to return to the Instances page.
Create another user with administrator privileges on the instance. This is a safeguard incase you forget the administrator password or have a problem with theadministrator account. The new user must have permission to access the instanceremotely. Open System Properties by right-clicking on theThis PC icon on your Windows desktop or File Explorerand selecting Properties. Choose Remotesettings, and choose Select Users to add theuser to the Remote Desktop Users group.
Use Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac to connect to Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, admin-provided virtual apps and desktops, or remote PCs. With Microsoft Remote Desktop, you can be productive no matter where you are.
If you need to use a remote computer lab, your instructor will list web addresses on your D2L course site. (Learn more about D2L.) Be sure to use the web address for connecting to remote computers via desktop application. Connecting via web browser uses a different web address.
I administer a number of Windows machines, and am trying to find a really good application to remote desktop in to them from my Mac. I've tried CoRD, and I really like its library approach to saved sessions (as opposed to Microsoft's file based approach), and tabbed sessions are great when working on a bunch of machines. Unfortunately, it's just too buggy for serious use, and given that it averages less than 2 releases a year, I have little hope that that will change. Microsoft's official client is very bare bones and doesn't support connecting on non-standard ports (which I need).
Chrome Remote Desktop is cross-platform. "Provide remote assistance to Windows, Mac and Linux users, or access your Windows (XP and above) and Mac (OS X 10.6 and above) desktops at any time, all from the Chrome browser on virtually any device, including Chromebooks."

The Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection version 10 program in Macintosh OS offers many advanced features that can enhance your experience with remotedesktop.sou.edu or virtuallab.sou.edu
However, with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing many users to work from home, some workers rely on remote desktop clients to connect to their corporate desktop -- or virtual desktop -- from a different endpoint in their home. The most obvious benefit to doing this is that it enables users to work within a familiar environment, just as though they were directly accessing their computer at work.
For Apple desktop users that run macOS at home, Windows Remote Desktop provides another benefit. Windows remote desktop on Mac is important in business use cases because it allows users to run Windows applications using their Mac. This is possible because the applications are running on the Windows machine the Mac endpoint is accessing.
Click the Add button, and an icon representing the remote system will appear on the Microsoft Remote Desktop client screen. To access the remote Windows desktop from the Mac, you should simply double click on the computer's icon and then enter the authentication credentials when prompted.
Configuring Windows Remote Desktop for Mac devices is a relatively simple process, but there is one important consideration that administrators must keep in mind. The remote desktop client must be able to connect to the remote machine using the remote desktop protocol (RDP).
This means there must be an IP communications path between the two machines, and IT must configure any firewalls to allow RDP traffic -- port 3389 -- to pass. Typically, corporate desktops reside on an organization's private network, so IT administrators may need to establish a VPN connection to the corporate network before attempting to set up Windows remote desktop access on a Mac device.
