I found my mistake, I had to use sudo

it is highly discouraged to run any kind of software, as ghiro, who doesn’t really need root privileges as root.

Sudo is not the solution to your issue. You made a mistake running some operations as root, after that, you created a privilege issue, only root can read the db.
Just restore the proper permissions to run ghiro as user.

This is a simple linux issue (hint: chown -R).
