Steven,

Congrats on the launch! I've linked you on the gheat homepage, and I'm posting this announcement to the mailing list as well.

Hi Chad,

Thanks for your help a few weeks ago when I was having some trouble with px2ll and ll2px when I was trying to get gheat-ae working in my App Engine project. I got my heat mapping application to a launchable state a couple weeks ago, and I thought I'd email you about it in case you want to include it on the gheat Google Code page.

If you're on Foursquare you can try it out at

If not, I've got some maps of my 700+ NYC check-ins so you can get a sense of what it looks like

The code is now up on GitHub at

If you have any questions about what I did feel free to email! I made a few small tweaks to the math that draws the tiles - both to how it determines the color density as a function of the distance from the center of each lat/lon "dot" so that the edges are a bit softer, and to how it accumulates color density on a single pixel so that it isn't as likely to get "overexposed". I'm also dynamically updating the level that corresponds to the maximum color based on the number of venues and checkins that the user has visible on the map.

I've got a bunch of small things I still want to fix and will hopefully have a chance soon, and I'll write up a blog post as well.

Cheers,
Steven
