Dear Advocates,
On behalf of the Leadership of the African Youth Initiative on Climate Change (AYICC), I bring you some exciting news in the lead up to January 15, action/2015 global launch.
AYICC would be engaged in various activities with her regional & local partners (JVE, FBIN, CSDEVNET, CODE etc) in over 42 African countries we currently have representation.
Please contact your Regional Coordinator to link you up with Country Coordinators spearheading the engagements:
West-Africa
North-Africa
Central-Africa
Southern-Africa
East-Africa
1. Save The Children is coordinating some actions around the launch globally and here in Nigeria, she has engaged as a consultant to coordinate activities after a successful stakeholders meeting that was held on 2nd December in Abuja. This includes a concert, engagements with high level policy makers, media engagements etc.
2. Climate and Sustainable Development Network (CSDEVNET) is coordinating some campaign activities in Nigeria and around the West African region. She is able to support organizations/group willing to engage in activities around action/2015 with stipends for campaign material (Banner, Placards etc).
3. We are still looking for more stories of inspiring young campaigners from the Global South to profile globally on launch day on the action/2015 website, on social media and potentially across the media.
If you are a potential young campaigners we could feature (it could be members of your groups/network/organization - as an inspiring young campaigners!).
All we would need is:
- Provide a biography including name, age, country/town and background. This should also include information about the campaigning/advocacy work they have been doing and a quote about the issues they care about, why 2015 is crucial for progress and why they are supporting action/2015.
- Take an ‘I am 15’ photo to highlight an issue important to them. Attached are guidelines on how to do so, as well as the template. Or if easier they can send their own photo and we can add on their chosen message digitally, example also attached. Would be great & useful to have this in French too!
We would then need to get their consent for this to me shared publicly. Please see attached.
Kindly urgently send directly to Megan Pennell who is leading on this and do not hesitate to contact her should you require more information or clarification on this. Please reach out to Megan via

4. Lastly, CSDEVNET, AYICC in collaboration with Connected Development [CODE] would be sending out a joint press statement and putting together a media meme (local & social). We are open to have more quotes (not more than 5 lines) and members to join the curators of the meme's. If you're up for it, please shoot me an email via

Regards & Happy 2015,
Hamzy!
