Call for Participation of Young Scientists and Practitioners
APN Proposal Development Training Workshop

============================================================

Vientiane, Lao PDR; 9-11 July 2013
The APN annual Proposal Development Training Workshop (PDTW) will be held from 9–11 July 2014 in Vientiane, Lao PDR.  The training workshop is designed to enhance the capacity of young scientists and practitioners in developing countries to develop competitive project proposals for submission to the APN and, potentially, to other funding organisations as well.
Main topic of the workshop: Green Economy as related to the Energy Sector
WORKSHOP VENUE: Vientiane, Lao PDR
STRUCTURE OF THE WORKSHOP:  The workshop will be conducted over three days (9–11 July 2014) and will comprise two main sessions, (1) interactive lecture-based session and (2) hands-on training/experience session. The first session aims to provide an overview of the APN annual call for proposals, its review process, together with guidelines on project proposal writing. Participants will be given plenty of opportunity to interact with our guest speakers. During session 2, participants will form in their break-out groups comprising four to five young scientists/practitioners. Each group will develop proposals with support of assigned mentors. Participants will receive a certificate after completion of three-day training workshop.
PARTICIPATION: The workshop is open to young scientists/practitioners working in an area or areas under our topic “Green Economy as related to the Energy Sector“. Participants MUST currently be working in Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam).  The official language of instruction and communication is English; therefore it is assumed that all participants have the required English language skills.
Participants will be selected on a “first come, first served” basis. This is standard procedure for APN workshops with a limited number of participants and considering available financial resources.
FUNDING AND FINANCE:  The training workshop will be organised and supported by APN in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Lao PDR.  Sponsorship will be provided for a small number of successful applicants and will cover the cost of economy class air tickets, accommodation and daily subsistence allowance.  Self-funded participants are welcomed to submit their interest but are expected to arrange and pay for their travel and stay in Lao PDR. There is no registration fee for training workshop.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: 18 May 2014 for applicants requiring funding support. Depending on the number of applications received, the call might be closed before 18 May; therefore, early submission is highly recommended.
The detail announcement for the workshop can be found here.
