Renew Capital has opened applications for the
Renew Venture Lab: EmFi Series — a competitive program for African tech founders whose customers are small businesses, and who are ready to build a financial layer on top of their platform.
Here's the opportunity in one line: Africa has a $330B untapped credit gap, and the founders best positioned to close it aren't bankers — they're tech companies already sitting on SME transaction data.
The EmFi Series gives those founders the tools, expert sessions, and structure to start building embedded finance products. Renew Capital's investment team is engaged throughout, and the top companies are selected for potential investment.
They're looking for founders who:
• Build software or platforms for small businesses in Africa
• Have accumulated meaningful transaction or behavioral data on their customers
• Are ready to explore credit, lending or embedded finance as a next layer
Applications are open now at
venturelab.renewcapital.com Deadline: The final application deadline is
May 15, 2026.
Process: The journey involves an initial application submission, followed by screening and selection. Successful applicants join the lab to complete modules and meet specific milestones
