Building with the VOTO Mobile API
The first step is to create an account on the VOTO Mobile platform, at https://go.votomobile.org/register. (If you have a number of developers on your team, you can just create one account and then add multiple users to it.) Once you've created a VOTO account, or if you already have one, then contacthack...@votomobile.org with the email address you used to create it, and we'll generate an API key unique to your account.
Once you've received your API key, you're ready to start developing. You can being experimenting with the VOTO API before the hackathon: check out the documentation at https://go.votomobile.org/apidoc/and start building!
We're excited to see what each developer creates using the VOTO API - from voice integration with existing apps, to survey and messaging innovations, to incoming and outgoing SMS delivery, and call-in automatic services. From pizza ordering, to a health hotline, to crowd-sourcing galamsey monitoring – the sky is the limit!
Be sure to bring your laptop and your development gear - and your fresh ideas for never-before-seen voice apps! We'd also recommend bringing a headset with a microphone (or other recording device) to speed up creating audio for your app.
Developers who require incoming numbers for Voice calls, will be provided on for the duration of the hackathon.
