Hi Guys. Marketing is a key par of our success. Consider this year's GOMC!

The Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC) is free, and open to student teams from three to six members, regardless of their major.

What it is about
The Google Online Marketing Challenge is a free and exciting opportunity for student teams to experience and create real online marketing campaigns using Google AdWords and Google+. Over 50,000 students and professors from almost 100 countries have participated in the past 5 years.

How it works
With a $250 budget provided by Google, student teams of three to six members develop and run an online advertising campaign for a business or non-profit organization over a three-week period. The teams that develop and communicate the most successful campaigns win awesome prizes, including a trip to Google for the students and their professor. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the optional Google+ Social Media Marketing Award by maintaining a Google+ Page for their clients over a six week period. In order to participate the students will have to be verified by Faculty in their schools. These faculty should have registered on the GOMC website to be able to do this.

2013 key dates
  • Professor Registration: January 14 - May 3, 2013

  • Student Registration: February 12 - May 10, 2013

  • AdWords and Google+ Campaign Window: February 12 - June 14, 2013

  • Deadline for Uploading Reports: June 14, 2013

  • All Awards Winners Announcement: August 2013

Digital Marketing Course
The Digital Marketing Course (DMC) is a free online, pre-packaged learning/teaching resource for students and academics from around the world. Students and Professors in your community may wish to use the course as supporting material to their lectures. Modules contain YouTube videos, webinars, case studies, e-learnings and supporting resources to diversify and simplify the learning process.

Feel free to review the GOMC website, our G+ page and the Discover GOMC section for more information.

So I'm wondering if non students can in any way participate in this. I see it as a great learning opportunity for even startups that may have a thing for growing their brands or as a business.

I wish I could be a part of this.

Emmanuel,

I am going to say that developers need to learn some marketing tricks so this challenge is relevant for developers and software builders and IT folks.

@Harry, too bad it's only for students eh?

Charles Mensah's team placed well in the challenge last year.

@Charles, could you share a quick story of your participation last year and how you partnered with non-students in the challenge. That should give Harry and co some ideas.

- Ato.

Harry,

Reason for doing this for students - teams can be organized more easily, be tracked, students are great avenues to push challenges, events, etc because they are organized communities with many members. Reason why so many things target students.

If you are not a student, you should take students more seriously.
