Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone is as excited about Ghana as I am.  A few students have asked Dr. Agbényiga and I some questions about the appropriate bathing suits, internet access, laundry needs, and room assignments.  Below are the responses. As always, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

1.      1. What types of bathing suites are appropriate for Ghana? Going off of that, we'll have time to be at the beach, right? What about pools at the resorts during our weekend trips?

In the past, students wore one and two piece suits. This would not be the place to wear a suit that barely covers your body parts. You should refrain from wearing as G-string type suit or one that barely covers the bust area. You can also bring wraps or dresses to put over your suits.  As for the beaches, there are several near Accra and during your downtime you can visit these locations.  Please be warned that the beaches in Ghana have very strong wave currents and even if you are an excellent swimmer, we don’t advise that you go swimming (more on this later). We do encourage you to go to the beaches and have fun. You will notice that Ghanaians tend to do day trips at the beach.  Families spend the entire day there and bring food/drinks. It is also a place for college students and younger people to go and listen to music and have fun. Last year, the students went to a reggae concert at one of the beaches and danced the night away. In addition, you will have access to pools—specifically Coconut Grove.

2.      2. Will I have internet access and how expensive will it be?

You can buy a wireless card and put credits on it to have wireless access. When you first arrive in Accra, Dr. Agbényiga will take all of you to get phones. This is the same place you will purchase you wireless card which will allow you to have internet in your rooms.   There will not be free wifi in any of our locations. As for the price,  wireless card are relatively cheap and easy to get. Depending on your needs and usage, you can get a card for 10Cedis-rougly$5—and this could last for a week.  There are also internet cafés around that will grant you access to computers and internet for very little money.  Remember to please download your articles before you leave the US—this will give you access without having wireless connection. Articles will be loaded onto Angel soon.

3.     3.  How will my clothes get washed?

We will have someone available to wash your clothes for a small fee depending on what and how much you are getting laundered.  These clothes will be hand washed and line dried.

4.      4. How many people to a room?

We  will likely have two people per room in all of our  three locations.

I hope this helps, don’t forget to post questions and if you  see any interesting places you would like to visit post it on the Facebook page (thanks Hannah).

See you all soon
