Greetings Everyone,
I hope you are all excited about leaving soon. Dr. Agbényiga would
like to know the roommate setup. At our main residence in Accra, Le
Baron Hotel, two people will share a room. I need to know who your
roommate will be. Discuss amongst yourselves and for each room/pair,
one person send me an email (cc the other person) the room assignment.
Please have that information to me by TUESDAY before 8am. Just in
case you were wondering, when we travel to the Volta region and Kumasi
you will have the same roommate setup. However, at Cape coast there
will be four people to a room (more on this later). For now please
send your roommate information. Below are a few reminders for
everyone.
1. Please bring with you $1000-1500+ for your expenses. You know your
spending habits, but I highly recommend that you bring at least $1000
for Ghana. Trust me, there are many things you would like to bring
back with you
2. You will have access to ATM machines in Accra but you will get a
charge from your bank. While you can use ATM cards, Dr. Agbényiga
does not recommend you purchase anything with a credit or debit cards.
Someone might steal your information and charge item under your name.
3. Before you leave call your banking institution and tell them you
will be going to Ghana and the dates. If you are traveling anywhere
else tell them this information as well. Some banks will freeze your
account if they notice you used your ATM card outside the continental
US.
4. Please bring with your large bills ($100) to change during the
first three weeks. You should also bring smaller bills ($20s, $10s)
for the final week so that you get the “best bang for your buck”.
(see things to bring document). The exchange rate is higher for
larger bills than smaller ones. So you get a little less for $20s and
$10s.
Looking forward to seeing everyone,
Sallay
