I'm getting ready to sign up for summer classes and seem to recall Dr.
Agbényiga saying that we would be able to take online courses during
study abroad...Is this true? I do have some extra credits I need to
get done and was wondering if I could manage to take a class or two
while in Ghana or if that would be too much?

Thanks,

Jordan Eastman

In the past, students have registered for other courses online while in Ghana. Keep in mind, you can go to a cyber café to check email and stay up to date with your course work. You may also purchase a wireless card (I use this) for about 60 Ghana cedis and add credits to get online from your laptop. A number of students used this last year for skype as well. I have found it to work well. It uses the same credit system as the phones in Ghana. Keep in mind, at times, the service can be a little slow.

Hello Jordan,
I just wanted to add that last year while I was in Ghana I TAed a course online. Every week I had to read and make comments on students work.  I was able to do this (despite my computer crashing while I was there).  The cyber cafe cost 1 dollar an hour to use or if you chose to buy a wireless card ($35). Just make sure that your computer is up to date or if possible tell your professor that you will be out of the country.   Also, please relize that Ghana is 5 hours ahead of the US so  if you turn in something at 2pm on Tuesday Ghana time, its really 10 am on Tuesday in the US. This actually works to your advantage because you will be turning in your assignments early.
