This seminar is put together by California Lawyers for the Arts every
year. This year, the focus is music in technology. This is a great
opportunity to meet and network with industry professionals from
various entertainment fields as they discuss the role of technolofy in
music.

Keynote speakers:

Todd Brabec
Executive Vice President and Worldwide Director of Membership for
ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) for
well over 30 years, Todd has been in charge of all ASCAP membership
operations throughout the world, as well as all writer and publisher
payment formula recommendations, changes & implementation. In
addition, he managed all advances, loans and other member financial
arrangements. He was also responsible for signing most of ASCAP’s
successful songwriters and writer/artists, including: James Taylor,
Marvin Gaye, Metallica, Green Day, Smokey Robinson, Joni Mitchell,
Neil Young, Journey, Earth Wind & Fire, Bob McDill, Jeff Lynne, and
Tom Petty.

Jeff Brabec
Vice President of Business Affairs for the Chrysalis Music Group, Jeff
specializes in evaluating, analyzing, projecting income, and
negotiating music publishing catalogue acquisitions. He also handles
songwriter, co-publishing, participation, administration, sub-
publishing and joint venture agreements. Jeff has negotiated more than
1,000 movie, television, video, new technology and advertising
commercial agreements for chart writers, writer-recording artists and
writer-producers. The Chrysalis Music Group represents the catalogues
of artists such as OutKast, Sheryl Crow, Gnarls Barkley, Danger Mouse,
My Morning Jacket, Blondie, Jethro Tull, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Billy
Idol, and David Bowie.
