Hi all,

Moving ahead and assume that my date-times were in the correct format but since there were multiple years in the sample with large periods of no data it was not correctly displaying.

For the next trail to master the syntax  I used only a subset of the data with only a single month and now the dates and time are plotting correctly.

I am still not clear on the syntax for my yxis (time) and would like to only have the full hours listed rather than all times as it makes it hard to read and interpret.  I tried inserting a format statement but that did not constrain the times on YAxis.
I tried to inserting a Ylim statement but that did not work at all.

Next I need to figure out how to do side by side plots with each limited to one species for better comparison. Jitter does separate the points but would be best to have side by side comparisons for each species.

Tnx again for all the excellent suggestions as I work through mastering this.

#trying more things setting time format
f=jpeg(file="testplot.jpg")
p <- ggplot(df_Test, aes(Date, Time, format = "%H%M", colour = Species)) + geom_jitter()
p
dev.off()

Again, it is _impossible_ to help you unless you provide a
reproducible example. It looks like you are not performing the
conversions to date/times correctly.
