Adding a small plot under my main plot with time-locked p-values

Basically I want to reproduce this plot (plot B) http://www.cell.com/cms/attachment/2007961507/2030659855/gr1.jpg

Is this possible in ggplot? I don't see how both plots could be put together like that.
