Apologies because this problem is more R or X11 than ggplot2, but this
is the only R manling list that I am subscribed so I am trying the
question here first. and this message would be indexed just in case
other people have this problem.
I code my R-ggplot2 scripts inside emacs with EES in a Mac, and I have
the following error when using semitransparent colors:
----
ggplot(data, aes(datcat)) + geom_histogram(aes(fill=group),
alpha=I(0.5),position="identity")
Warning message:
In grid.Call.graphics("L_rect", x$x, x$y, x$width, x$height,
resolveHJust(x$just, :
semi-transparency is not supported on this device: reported only once per page
----
This happens when using R inside EES in emacs that uses the X11 that
in my mac is not the default one but XQuartz 2.5.0 (xorg-server 1.7.6)
The same code in the standard R-gui for mac (R 2.11.0 GUI 1.33 Leopard
build 64-bit (5582)) that uses quartz, works fine.
It works perfect in png.
I have seen that this is an R problem and not a ggplot2 problem
----
> plot( rnorm(1000), rnorm(1000), col="#0000FF0A", pch=16,cex=3)
Warning message:
In plot.xy(xy, type, ...) :

I have seen that this is a X11 problem also in linux. I have seen a
similar message from 26th of march
Subject: Re: Strange error about transparency with geom_smooth
And the recommendation was to install Cairo.
But If I ware able to use Quartz instead X11 the problem would be solved.
Does someone know how to make ESS/R to sue Quartz instead X11?
thanks
