scale_colour_manual using part of scale_colour_brewer

I'd like to use a colour scale that is composed of the 8 colours from
a brewer scale, plus black as the last colour.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Try this,

library(RColorBrewer)
qplot(x,y, data=data.frame(x=1:9,y=1:9), colour=factor(x),size=I(5)) +
scale_colour_manual(values = c(brewer.pal(8, "Set1"),"black"))
