One issue I need to consider is that the activity time start and
finish can range from a small window in northern latitudes with only
9 hours of night to 13-14 hours, as opposed to here in the tropics
where it varies from 11-13 hours seasonally.
The other issue that strikes me looking that the example page is that
my type of data is not continuous so the scatter plots work well.
So if I have a clock face type background with say a 14 hour civil
twilight evening and sunrise for AM that will no doubt work.
But the activity may be for some of he species with bimodal activity
may be intermittent, a few data points 18:00-19:00 then large burst
of activity the drop off to nil then pick up again around 03:00-05:00.
Trying also to determine what would be the most intuitive and/or
understandable graphically for the reader of publications relating to
comparisons of temporal activity pasterns.
Also trying to determine what stats are useful to run to compare for
significant defences between activity between periods of species and
or between sites.
