Hadley,

In your copious spare time, have you had a chance to arrange a hotel
discount for the workshops?

Rob,

We didn't negotiate any hotel discount for our workshop. There are
discounts associated with the JSM, which we're loosely associated with
- details for that are at www.amstat.org - at least we're all heading
there after the graphics workshop. I typically find that the discounts
aren't as good as what you can get by using hotels.com, or orbitz, or
some other web travel service.

Would you like us to try and get a discount from the Hilton Garden Inn?

cheers,
Di

Dianne,

Thanks for your prompt (indeed instantaneous!) reply. I think I found
a relatively inexpensive B&B down the road a bit. Moreover, the hotel
website rates are not too bad (<$200/night) and I have yet to go
adventuring to the various discounting websites. (The ex-graduate
student in me still longs for $30/night or a bit of floor somewhere,
but alas... and thankfully for my back those days are over!)

As for your question about negotiating something, why don't switch it
around a bit and I'll offer to take emails from anyone who'd like to
see if we can get a deal, then I'll forward you an aggregate
request. If it is just one or two of us that can't stay for JSM then
it is not worth the effort.

For those who want to see if we can get a better rate, you can email
me at rob @ aetiologic dot ca; state number of persons, dates
required, and I will organize it and send along to Dianne. No
promises.

Many thanks.

Rob
