The Fest showcases local artists and zinesters, as well as zine distros, bringing DIY, radical, whimsical, and artistic small press publications to the public. Ranging from bike repair to poetry to crafts, the Zine Fest is a great place to go to learn new things, connect with local writers, and get involved with creating new forms of accessible media.

August 25-26: Build Your Own 3D Printer
In
this class, you will be building a MendelMax 1.5, the most advanced
version of the RepRap 3D printer. Since many parts of the RepRap are
made from plastic, they can be printed on a RepRap, meaning the RepRap
self-replicates by making a kit of itself - a kit that anyone can
assemble given time and some additional materials. It also means that -
if you've got a RepRap - not only you can print out all sorts of fun
stuff, you can also print all the plastic parts needed to make another
RepRap for a friend, or use the knowledge to fix it, repair it, and
3D-print upgrades!

The Second Annual South Philly Garden Tour is a self-guided ticketed event, featuring a new sampling of community and home gardens throughout South Philadelphia – a total of 20 gardens will be open for the tour. All funds raised through this event will support the South Philly Food Co-op’s efforts to bring a member-owned grocery store where high-quality food and products, including locally sourced and organic, can be found for a fair price.

This course requires no previous knowledge of music or any previous musical instrument
study. In Beginning Steel Band you will be introduced to the steel drum, its history, performance
practice, and its role in a steel drum ensemble. In addition, you will study and learn music theory,
improvisation, chord reading, note reading, and ear training while learning to play the steel drum.
