Hello, geekas!
Sorry for the radio silence recently. Karissa and I have both been abnormally busier than usual, and haven't had any time at all to get any GGD events off the ground. While we've had a few bites for a dinner (haha, get it? bites? *crickets*), we haven't been able to solidify anything with anyone, and it's been tough trying to get anything to work out. I had an idea for an event that we could have in July, but I wanted to throw the idea out to find out what kind of interest there was before planning it.
I know we tried to have both a book and comic book club, and I'd like to propose we smash them up for a meeting. There's a great book I loved as a kid - A Wrinkle in Time, by Madeline L'Engle - and it's been made into a graphic novel. Would anyone be into discussing the book and the graphic novel at a comic book shop - probably either Atomic City or Locust Moon?
Let me know what you think. And if anyone would like to give a talk, or knows someone who would want to give a talk, please do let us know! We'd also like to start having happy hours again, especially now that the weather has gotten so much nicer. In fact, I was going to try to plan one in June at Triumph, only to find out that it's gone out of business, which made me sad.
Anyway, that's everything! Please feel free to reply to me directly at geekwith...@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the next event!
