Hey, is this thing on??  If anyone is still out there, I have a friend who is looking for a part that seems to me made of unobtanium, or at least unaffordabilium.  Would any of you happen to know where to find a 1973 1700cc camshaft at a decent price?  She has an ad up on The Samba putting the feelers out there, but I figured you all might know of one that’s in the area.

If anyone is able to help out, feel free to reply to let me know, or contact my friend Tré through her ad above.  Thanks so much!  Hope to make it to another meeting and see you all again soon!

Cheers,
Tom

She might try tying in with the Porsche 914 crowd. They probably want the rest of the engine but could care less about a Bus cam. I recently went to a 914 show and shine at the Harry's Hoffbrau parking lot in San Jose. I found out about it on CraigsList and when I suggested that the organizer post it on The Samba he acted like he had never heard of it. I guess they hang around in different circles even though a lot of parts are common to VWs of that era. I picked a couple cheap items being sold out of the backs of vehicles that day.
