I thought of this idea when Dan and I drove ro santa cruz in his convertible just a few weeks ago when it was summer for a month. I think it will work. The best thing is u can park the cars right next to the picnic tables at Seacliff. Car security is always a concern. Anyway I am going to call the state parks event coordinator next week I hear to reserve a group area it will cost 300 or so. 8 buck day use. But I am going to talk to them and see what we can work out. If we get 30 cars that's only 10 each or 15 at 20 each - a small price to pay for having picnic place waiting for us and to ensure our cars are safe
Hey - are we still on for the bug o rama in sac in may? I can see if Dan will want to go and can get the day off ---- let me know if you and Rob are interested

Since 1990 I have done a beach fun run very similar to this, but less
structured. I'm glad people seem eager to go, and it sounds like
fun.....but.........
30 cars is a LOT of cars. The Pumpkin Run has always been the most
popular and well-attended of the fun runs and the most we ever had on
that one was 22 cars. Also, summer events don't draw big crowds
because a lot of people are on vacation and/or going to VW events.
The most we've ever had on a Beach Fun Run was 6 cars! And that is
in the 18 years I've been doing it! I just don't' want to see all
your hard work go for nothing if it turns out that way. Seems like
people will always want to go and then not show up for the event.
Remember the two pumpkin runs? There were SEVEN CARS on the one that
went to San Martin, and that is AFTER Rick and Joy said they wanted
to do it to San Martin! I think p;people mean well when they say
things, but things come up and people can't always attend. If it
costs money that is another drawback. $300 to rent a picnic spot
means you have to get a certain number of cars to go. I would just
hate to see you holding the bill for that.
I don't' want to discourage you but just be aware that our group is
enthusiastic in principle, and VERY apathetic in deed! If you still
wanna do this fun run I will go!! Heck maybe I'll even take Vernon
if he has brakes by then.
And yes, I do still want to go to the Bug O in May as long as we
aren't gonna cook our brains doing it!! ;-)

Thks. That's why I want to see if they will cut a deal. If they find out that we give money to charity - perhaps they can waive the 3 bills if we agree to give it to a worthy cause. I was hoping to get 15 cars. Rick told me to work with Larry and Steve since they know when all the events are
But if it all falls apart - get those breaks fixed and we will do a bug bus run. It would be fun! I also met a real nice couple with an mg - old. They can tag along too. More the merrier!
