cocon telnet problem

Having a little trouble setting up a node on a remote host using
cocon. I can telnet the host outside of cocon, giving username and
password and getting on with it. When I try to set up a node to run a
co-array programme, I get as far as the password prompt and no
further. I get no error message.
I am obviously doing something wrong. It would be great if someone
could nudge me in the right direction.
