Each winter a special ice skating rink opens in Whistler Olympic Plaza, where you can go ice skating in the heart of Whistler Village with views of the surrounding mountains, the Olympic Rings and thousands of twinkling, festive lights.
The outdoor ice skating rink and Snow Zone at Whistler Olympic Plaza are currently closed. Operations typically run from late November to mid-March. Please check back for 2024/25 dates and hours in November.
When conditions are right, skating is possible on many local lakes. Skating on natural ice should only be undertaken when weather conditions have created safe ice conditions and is undertaken at your own risk. When in doubt, head to the outdoor rink at Whistler Olympic Plaza or the indoor rink at Meadow Park instead.
Patrons are encouraged to bring their own skates and helmets to public skating sessions. Alternatively, the full service skate shop will be open to provide skate rentals, helmets and skate aids as needed. All rental equipment will be properly sanitized between each user.

Figure skating perfectly showcases the technical and physical abilities of its incredible performers. Whether solo or in pairs, figure skaters demonstrate balance and control on the ice, setting beautiful routines to music. It is a combination of athleticism and top-notch technical skill. The figure skating competitions at Milano Cortina 2026 will include five events:
There are two rounds in the men's, women's and pairs competitions: a short programme with mandatory technical elements, and a free programme with mandatory technical elements but more freedom in the execution.
In particular, the skaters in pair skating have to perform a few technical movements together, such as jumps and parallel spins, trying to be as synchronized as possible. The difference between the artistic pair and dance pair disciplines is that the latter does not include technical elements such as jumps or overhead lifts.
The scores for event are decided by a panel of 2 technical specialists and a technical controller, which determines the level of execution of the technical element performed by the skater. The quality of execution and other artistic elements, such as interpretation, are decided by a panel of 9 judges.
During the qualifying phase, a man, dance pair, artistic pair, and woman present their short programmes to earn the highest score for their team. This event takes place before the Opening Ceremony and involves the top 10 nations in the world based on the seasonal ranking.
Ice skating is the perfect activity for parties, companies, or organizations. Group rates are available for 10 or more skaters during public skate sessions. Please view the group rate stipulations below, as there are certain times during the year, we do not allow groups to receive group rates.
