Ifinished my 3 ML treatments about four months ago. I still am experiencing vaginal dryness but not vaginal burning. Now I've developed urethral burning which comes and goes. I've used estrace on this area and sometimes it helps. I do use Aquafor as well which helps a bit too. It just never really feels normal. I'm now trying a change in my diet, particularly cutting down or out wine to see if possibly that helps. I also started taking two supplements. Mycozil for fungal and yeast balance and Latero-Flora which is a probiotic. I've done so much reading online about this problem and didn't realize it affected so many women! If anyone can used something that really has worked for the urethra burning please share!!!
Not meaning to sound stupid but how do you distinguish between urethra burning or vaginal burning? Also does anyone know if it is ok to use vagifem a few days after a first ML treatment I had no aftercare advice, and felt so stressed I just wanted to get out of the clinic and didn't ask any questions?
Hi Kathryn saw specialist last week. He told me I had contact dermatitis. He said I should have never had the mlt. Because the burning was from my urethra not vagina. He gets a lot of patients in his office who have had problems after mlt. I believe what I have is based on what she did. After the fourth I had urethritis for the second time was on antibiotics and two weekx later burning really bad over a month. Coincidence I do t think so. I am doing what this doc says and had good days. Seeing a doc next about getting natural estrogen treatments since I can't take hrt,
Hope you don't mind me asking this but was your female Gynaecologist based in London and you have had to resort to seeing another specialist as you state you should not have had the treatment in the first place as it was the urethra?
I had my First Mona Lisa treatment yesterday , as advertised a non invasive procedure, so surprised that there only seems clinics in London in the U.K. that perform this procedure, unless someone can advise me different, a very quick procedure the 2nd part of the procedure more painful than the first part but totally ok I walked the 1.7 miles back to the train station afterwards to take my mind off things took a 2 he train journey with a couple of pain killers got home and applied cold yoghurt slept ok the next day hardly knew the procedure had been carried out, one negative the Gynaecologist said even after the treatment some women still take vagifem, I had this done to stop taking HRT at all but still feeling positive it's early days and hopefully things can only get better that old cliche
I know that the ML treatment is supposedly a revolutionary procedure regarding VA UTIs etc and I do understand the theory behind the procedure, revitalising the area, however I don't understand how it can have any effect on the lack of oestrogen surely this issue still remains a problem ?
Hi just a couple of questions , were you using HRT before the ML treatment or have you never found it necessary to use HRT , I know that the ML rejuvenates and heals the tissues builds collagen etc but presumably the oestrogen levels remain the same after the treatment as I haven't heard anyone say anything contra to this, not sure such a diverse topic, thanks.
when I first started researching Mona Lisa did not exist. This website was the first time I knew other women were suffering.. It helped me to not feel alone and crazy.... doctors I saw had no idea, took two years before I heard the words vaginal atrophy.... so to all the women out there, don't give up, keep researching and trying methods outside the medical field, as they don't have much info on this condition except to say lack of estrogen... Many women I know have lack of estrogen that don't suffer from this, and topicals did not work for me
Are you in the UK I have just visited a Gyn in the U.K. and had the ML carried out first time after a very quick consultation, I am concerned as not enough questions were asked about my problem although VA had been diagnosed by a previous Gyn I'm concerned that yours was carried out and shouldn't have been and comments on these forums about it being a money making racket and ending up with more problems than you had initially
so Linda... its was my understanding (may be wrong) that the person who did the mona lisa did not diagnose. My gyn diagnosed, I did my homework and decided on mona lisa... was told at that time it was used for rejuvenating sexuality but had helped with uti's and vaginal atrophy. no guarantee Tried it for atrophy because I was desperate. for me it worked .... hard to tell difference between vagina and urethra, mona lisa did away with uti's so urethra improved after treatment. did the mona lisa cause your contact dermatitis or was it there previously
Before I had my first ML treatment, I had to undergo a very complete vaginal exam to make sure of the diagnosis. It was also to rule out reasons I shouldn't have it such as a prolapse or other gyn. disease etc. Did you have a complete exam or did they just do it? If so you certainly have a case. However I hope by filing a law suite the FDA doesn't pull this treatment from the market. It has been a life saver for those of us who actually need it !
In the United States another doctor would have to say that the Doctor Who performed the Monalisa did not adhere to what other doctors in the area would have and you have to find a doctor to testify against the person who performed it. not likely
No I was having burning in my urethra only. Saw 4 doc Gyno 3 uros. Finally the last said I had dryness to start using coconut oil. She mentioned the mlt and had it done at another uro. Two uros sent me to this specialist and he last week diagnosed me with dermatitis. It's from lack of estrogen. Seeing dovpc who treats estrogen on Tuesday. Went to this specialist today and told him externally on one area where my pubic hair half way down I would getting itching and burning just as bad as in urethra. So he gave me a steroid cream to use there only if I'm burning. Twice a day on burning day then one day later. It comes and go. I give up one thing after another. the urethra area is so much better. Aquafor before peeing spray water after then coconut oil. Can't put soap near private area. Use special soap all over rest of body. Special detergent. No pads and fabric softer. If I go anywhere it's a trip carrying everything. Good thing I don't have smallhandbag. I joined the face book Mona Lisa touch. If I had read some of the nagative comments, I would have not jumped the gun. She made me worse. I will pursue down the road.

I keep hoping it will get better!

After a few week I went for the second treatment which could not be done because my vagina closed. I am going through hell now trying to get it opened. This Dr. sent me to a specialist because he was stumped. I have tried numerous creams and many different tests including CT. I am not ready to give up my sex life so I will probably have to have surgery to have it opened again.
