Dear Members, This is from Mr Kiran Vivekananda

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear All,

It is unfortunate to see such criticism and counter criticisms being
circulated around using various PR professional groups. I request the
moderators of these groups not to allow such mails in future. This medium
is a very powerful communicating tool and let us all use it to enhance our
communication / PR skills... I am sure you all will agree that we want to
see a collective PR body in similar lines of CII & FICCI in the industry.

God Bless..

Regards,

Kiran

Dear Sir,

I really salute the spirit shown by Mr Joshi and  it is a lesson for those who crticise the good work. Really shameful on the part of critics who can do nothing but donot have ability to appreciate the work done by others. Our PR profession needs such type of able leaders. I think by reading this mail they (critics) should try to understand the appeal of Mr Joshi and come forward to bring the clean image of PR professionals. Once again I convey my regards to Mr Joshi.

Dear Mr Joshi,
Thanks for writing such a sensible mail.
Friend!
There are three type of persons in this world:
1.   Those who work.
2.   Those who try to take the credit.
3.   Those who try to make feel their presence by creating nuisance.
I always try to remain in no. 1. category as there is less competition.

Moderator's Note:
Dear Members, the following is the impression vis-a-vis the advice of Sri Yogesh Joshi, President,
Association of Business Communicators of India (1957), Mumbai
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear All,

I have been reading the mails through this group, targeting a few
professionals and throwing mud on them. I have been keeping purposely quiet
for quite some time since last June when a similar thing was done targeting
professional bodies like ABCI/PRCI/PRSI etc. Name of GFPR was not been
mentioned in the mail that was written by a Bangalore based female who is
into this profession only for the last TWO/THREE Years.

Nobody is perfect in life. We all try to be perfectionist. None the less, we
need to follow Lord Krishna, the one and only perfectionist in one of the
Avatars of Vishnu. I am little philosophical because I know I am writing
mail to the gfpr group who advocates spirituality in public life so that
ethics/values will automatically be imbibed in your conduct and character.

As President ABCI, I have intentionally not responded to the mail that was
initiated by yet another such Yahoo OR Google group of PR professionals run
from a metropolitan city based in south India. Some people don't work nor
they intend to think and act positively, but have enough time to criticize
others. Positive criticism is welcome and can be taken in the right spirit
and at times, it can motivate a professional not to commit the same mistakes
again. However, criticizing someone for the sake of criticizing & because of
not matching your chemistry is not welcomed. Criticizing someone is very
easy but organizing an event is very difficult. There may be flaws on the
organizational part, however, it does not give anybody a liberty to
criticize someone for some small mistakes. Such criticism washes out the
positive effects of all good work done, may be small in size, but such
criticism on personal basis at times, demoralizes someone from giving a
better performance next time and overcoming mistakes that he has committed.

Criticizing is easy, but organizing an event is difficult. Those who are
members and part and parcel of PR or any professional bodies should be
matured enough to understand the hurdles any organizer faces while
organizing an event. Besides his time management to comply with his own
official duty, he is giving additional time from his busy schedule, at times
spends from his own pocket on travel or offering courtesy in terms of
hospitality and finally faces a lot many problems in getting sponsorship and
raising funds to see that no loss is incurred by the professional body is
something worth appreciating. How many professionals who only criticize have
such ability to organize a flawless event? How many of such critics
positively contributed for the well-being of the profession? I have seen in
professional bodies, that there are too many names in the Governing Council
and some fabulous designations are given to members, but there contribution
for enhancement of any professional body is ZERO.

Such Members expect Awards/recognitions/prizes without any professional
contributions. If such accolade is not bestowed upon them or if recognition
is not given, they start shouting on top of their voice and starts maligning
such bodies thereby demonstrate their nuisance value. The mail that was
initiated against ABCI/PRCI/PRSI was with the same intention to show their
nuisance value. I was more shocked to know that the lessons of
professionalism were written by someone who has just put in two or three
years in the profession. Why can't the same female who has written a mail
write in such language that these are the flaws I feel and am prepared to
help you out to overcome the same, hence kindly give me some responsible
job?  Has that Bangalore based female been instigated by someone who has
abundant time to create only such controversies on a Yahoogroup of PR
Professionals? The whole dialogue on this group that is going on is on the
parallel lines, hence I felt it very strongly to speak for organizers
depicting their roles and hurdles they face.

As stated above, someone who is just two OR three years in this profession
have NO right to talk or criticize on professional ability of their seniors.
First be at par with them by way your invaluable contribution, put in those
many years of service and then talk of how professional they are or what way
they are lacking in their professionalism. The Bangalore female who has put
in two or three years in the professions or our friend from gfpr group, has
she ever organized any event of the scale of ABCI/PRCI/GFPR have organised?
Organising such events on yearly basis is difficult and we know what
difficulties we face and how we overcome last minute hurdles without letting
the participants know about it. Those who are only criticizing, I appeal all
of them that First you organize the event of a better grandeur and on a much
larger scale, we shall be happy to attend and then criticizing others. Don't
forget, we can also point out endless flaws in your event. One has NO right
to critise on others if he or she has no significant and meaningful
contribution in the profession. If you can't do so, at-lease encourage
others who are doing so.

To me, I think, those who are serious in doing Professional enhancement,
should not get disturbed by such comments and also should maintain dignity
and not stooping so low like your critic. I have been non-participating on
any of the groups for quite some time, but today, I feel that I should
express myself for the sake of those who are contributing to this noble
cause, stand-by with them and also warning those who are only throwing mud
on others and making personalized attacks to please stop such mud throwing,
try and be positive, appreciate good deeds of others and make use of other
mediums to communicate flaws of any organization or professional bodies.
Don't forget, when raise your finger on others, there are three fingers
pointing at you. It would be appropriate that in-stead of pointing out
mistakes and criticizing others, be positive and write a mail expressing
your wish to organize the same event next year and demonstrate your
capabilities and exemplify the world as to how an event needs to be
organized. How many people do so?

Public Relations profession do not enjoy good repute and image in India. Let
us make an attempt to wash out that image and make the slate clean and then
re-write and decorate our image. It is need of the hour. Trust, senior and
respected PR Professionals like Dr. Reddi will help in cleaning up the mess
and redecorating the image. However, if we keep on fighting with our-self,
then those who are considered as image makers of their company/institution
will never have a good image. An appeal to all professionals to decide the
way they want to march ahead.

Thanks & Regards,

Yogesh Joshi
President ABCI
