Yellowstone Bike Ride
A few people from Great Falls are going over to ride through Yellowstone Park on road bikes April 12th and 13th. The basic itinerary is to drive over on Friday, April 11th and stay at the Absaroka Lodge in Gardiner (https://www.yellowstonemotel.com), still plenty of rooms as of 2/18/25.
Saturday
Drive up with bikes to the gate at Mammoth Hot Springs, park cars, and start riding to West Yellowstone, about 50 miles. Stay night at West Yellowstone at the Yellowstone Lodge (https://www.yellowstonelodge.com/). Sit in hot tub, grab dinner, etc.
Sunday
Ride back to the cars!
Notes:
The road will be closed to public vehicles but will still have some employee traffic. The weather can be very bad or not that bad. You need to bring layers. It is preferable to use frame bags or other bike packing bags rather than a backpack if possible. Don’t forget to have enough warm layers, a swimsuit, and any extra clothes or footwear. Road bikes or touring bikes are best. Mountain bikes are okay but will be more difficult and slower.
