Goodbye letter

I was starting to dat a guy, since I thought I would like privacy I suggest meeting at my apt. I had already expressed that I was not ready for a physical relationship after the second date at my apt thing got a little intense I slowed it back down but, he was under the impression that I was going to give in on our third dat which would have been in two days. I told him in no uncertain terms was that going to happen ,he text me he needed space and I haven't heard from him. I can I write a letter and if I do should I apologize for things getting so intense?? Please help Thank you!!!!
