The sleek silhouette is reminiscent of a pair of half chaps being worn over a paddock boots. The contrast of the leather colors is visually appealing. And the Ariat logo badge on the side, along with the buckle at the top edge of the boots add lovely additional style details.
Another terrific feature of the Coniston boots is the full length back zip. The full zip helps the Coniston boots have such a lovely fitted silhouette of the boots. And the lace up front allows for additional adjustability, to ensure that I can get the perfect fit.
It is definitely noteworthy that the Coniston boots come with two pairs of laces. They arrived already outfitted with a pair of elastic laces. A second pair of cotton laces is included, which offers a slightly different look and fit. The Coniston boots do also have spur rests.
Taking the Coniston boots on/off is made easier with the help of the full length back zipper. I personally like the pull tab that makes for an easy pull on, and the easy off heel kick feature. Both may not seem like a big deal, but little innovative features make a difference.
The Coniston boots do more than simply keep my feet warm in the saddle. They also perform like a champ when they are in the irons, thanks to the stirrup friendly outsole. The ATS Max Technology also provides stability, support and helps reduce my foot fatigue.
What I absolutely love about the Coniston boots, is their versatility. The fact is, a pair of boots is a big investment. In my life, the Coniston boots get a lot of wear time. Wearing them at the barn and in the saddle is terrific, because they were made for performance.
I bought a pair of Heritage Contours back when they were like $280 in 2012, and I still have them and use them (there was a 7 year gap in riding in there to be fair). They were fine when I was younger and even though they still technically fit fine, they are hell on my feet - rub my ankles in all these weird spots, give me a massive blister behind one of my knees. I have heard of other people having the same issue with pairs of Ariats over time. That combined with the cheapy feeling and look of their boots nowadays pushed me to spend a couple extra dollars for a BEAUTIFUL pair of Deniros that was a much better value.
I gave up on Ariat tall boots a while ago, and then was seduced back because my beloved Mountain Horse were getting way too expensive and the quality went down. But I immediately regretted it and have sworn off new Ariats again. I even tried just the paddocks (Gore H2O), and they fell apart within a few months, without getting much use other than just going to the barn (I ride in tall boots).
We are generally able to complete basic repairs on Ariat boots within 2-5 business days of receiving them at the workshop. This extends to 1-2 weeks for most specialist repairs and longer for more complex repairs and restorations.

This varies depending on your location, but generally takes no more than a few business days if you're in a metropolitan area and otherwise up to 5 business days (if you're in a regional or remote area).

To my young teenage brain, the gel footbeds were peak technology.
