Python 3 Library for ULAN Data

Hello everyone,

I'd like to share the Python3 library I'm maintaining for Getty ULAN: artist-getter.

You can install and start using it immediately by running:

pip install artist-getter

Currently, you can retrieve artist name, ULAN, sex and the entire json file as a dict.

The original author of this package is Jay Mollica, who wrote it for SFMoma, it was originally called getty-getter and was written in Python 2. 

I needed to use this package for a research project, I updated this package to be compatible with Python 3, and added a few new functions.

Our future plan is to add Wikidata as a backup option in cases when certain data is missing from Getty ULAN.
