Hi; we’ve had reported to us a question about our “Newfoundland” entry links to the Getty term Terre-Neuve.
http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n81066145) has a link to the Getty ULAN: https://vocab.getty.edu/ulan/500269681.
The reason is that we take your links to us and echo them back. I think our term has Terre-Neuve as a variant label, which is why the match was made.
However, our record says Newfoundland been renamed to “Newfoundland and Labrador” since 2001 (https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2002021084), which has it’s own link to getty at https://vocab.getty.edu/tgn/7005801-place.
I wonder if the tgn term Newfoundland (https://vocab.getty.edu/tgn/7005807) should be linked to our Newfoundland http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n81066145 record.
I guess it’s possible that both Terre-Neuve and Newfoundland in your system should link to our Newfoundland that way, since it’s a variant match.
However, your record seems to be for a corporate body, and ours is a geographic node, so maybe the skos:exact-match is a little too strong a link.
Thanks for taking a look!
Nate
