I've posted my notes from last week's Council Transportation Committee (CTC) meeting. You can read them on the blog here:
http://gettingaroundissaquah.org/index.php/2008/04/14/ctc-41008/

Items that could use a little action right away:

  • The Talus developer is in negotiations to significantly expand the traffic mitigation work they will be doing along Newport Way west of SR900. It sounds like we could have a 12-foot multi-use trail from SR900 all the way up to SE 54th street by the end of this year at little direct cost to the city. The way it was presented in the meeting the main obstacle is just getting the decision made. Contact your council members, especially members of the Land Use Committee (McCarry, Rittenhouse, and Traeger).
  • SE 43rd Way which runs up the hill from East Lake Sammamish Parkway to 228th Avenue SE past Providence Point is being considered as a new addition to this year's Complete Streets improvements. The proposal is to re-stripe the roadway to create a 5 foot shoulder on the uphill side of the street by shifting the auto lanes over to take part of the existing 10 foot shoulder on the downhill side. There is money in the Complete Streets budget to do this work, but there is uncertainty about whether citizens want these lanes. Again, contact council members, especially CTC members Barber, Butler, and Schaer.
See my meeting notes for more info about both of these issues. If you have specific questions you can leave comments there or in email, or ask your council members directly (and let us know what they say!)

Please pass this info along to anyone you know who would be interested (and tell them about GAIT!)

Hope to see some of you at our meeting on Wednesday (7pm at the Brewhouse).
