Dear Becky,

Great job! Thank you for helping us reach our collective goal of more than 10,000 total letters and signatures collected in favor of saving King County Metro service! We have until Monday, July 25th to win over 2 more councilmembers to get that supermajority of 6 out of 9 that we need. This is not an issue that needs to go to a referendum – it is a simple matter that our council should decide after weighing the great benefits for society against the small cost to individuals.

Here are the next steps you can take to get us there:

1. Print up some fliers and post one at your bus stop or park & ride, hand them out on your bus, or target one of the routes
that goes to Burien or nearby places. Surprisingly, many riders still have not heard about what's happening! Make your own,
or download fliers by Larry Neilson & “Aaron & Starin’” at http://www.cityofart.net/moveon/download_metro.html

2. Attend our press conference and rally on Wednesday, July 20th at 3pm at the South Kirkland Park & Ride where we will be making a few remarks and handing huge piles of petitions over to Larry Phillips. We need folks to form a small crowd and hold some signs, which will be provided. Please reply to this email to RSVP.

3. Help us get 200-300 people to the Burien public hearing on Thursday, July 21st at 6pm, Burien City Hall, 400 SW 152nd St. Reply to this email to RSVP.

4. Come to the final meeting at which the Council will decide this issue on Monday, July 25th, probably around 1:30pm in their chambers in Seattle. Reply to this email to RSVP.

5. Call one of the council members we are targeting IF YOU LIVE in one of the following areas:

For Woodinville, Redmond, Issaquah, Sammamish & other east district 3 folks, Kathy Lambert is one of the reps we hope to convince, so PLEASE call 206-296-1003 and politely urge her to pass the $20 fee.

If you are in District 6 (Mercer Island, Kirkland, Bellevue, etc.), after reading up a bit (http://www.kingcounty.gov/council/news/2011/July/JH_LP_parkandride.aspx), you could also call Jane Hague (206-296-1006) and urge her to maintain transit and ease traffic congestion by supporting this measly $20 charge. You can mention her upcoming re-election campaign if you’d like.

District 5 (Tukwila, Seatac, Kent, Des Moines, etc.) please call Julia Patterson at 206-296-1005. If you are interested in joining us for a constituent meeting we might set up with her, please reply to this email.

District 7 (Federal Way, Auburn, etc.), please call Pete von Reichbauer at 206-296-1007.

We do not need to bother the reps for Seattle, north of Seattle, Burien or Vashon, as they are already in favor.

Congratulations again, for starting a real groundswell on this issue. Now we just need to keep it up and make lot of noise through next Monday. Together we can do this.

Yours truly,

Julia D.
