This Thursday (tomorrow! Sorry for the late notice) September 26th from 6pm to 7:30pm, there will be a town hall meeting here in Issaquah's Eagle Room at City Hall at 130 E Sunset Way.

The meeting will be attended by a number of notable local politicians and transportation people:

  • Kathy Lambert – member, King County Council, ETP representative
  • Fred Butler – Issaquah City Council President, ETP representative, RTC representative, ST Capital Committee chair, ST Audit and Reporting Committee
  • Ken Hearing – North Bend mayor, ETP Alternate
  • Dick Paylor – Immediate Past Chair of Chamber Coalition, former chair of ETA, former member Bothell City Council
  • Mark Mullet – 5th Legislative District state senator, Senate Transportation Committee member
  • Jay Rodne – 5th Legislative District state representative, House Transportation Committee member
  • Chad Magendanz – 5th Legislative District state representative

As you may be aware, Metro has been operating on temporary funding that will run out early next year resulting in major cuts in transit services throughout King County. Our state legislature has stubbornly refused to either increase funding for transit state-wide or to allow local transit districts to seek voter approval for local funding options. Instead we have seen repeated transportation budgets consisting mostly of new highway construction. Most have not even included significant funding for maintenance of our existing infrastructure, a need that you'd think would be inherently obvious after the Skagit River bridge collapse earlier this year.

Please attend this meeting and let your elected officials know that you support funding for pedestrian, cyclist, and transit options as a significant part of any transportation solution.

Thanks,
Jeff
