Main Presentation: Managing Daily Productivity Routines with GTD
Background:
Ray went to speak to grad/undergrad students re: productivity book. Had to think about what type of talk to present based on years of experience in the productivity world.
Focus, Habit, Motivation and Organization; Nature of developing a productive system
Focus = where you going on a macro level (Need to see)
Habit = turning thought into action
Habit is the key thing and making new habits can be a Challenge!
Discussion:
Lowering the barrier (e.g putting things by the door)
Keystone habits (tieing a habit to something you already do)
Now just cue, routine, reward; its the continuity around these tasks the connections and anchors of activities
Book: SuperHuman by Habit
Mindset is key can’t think it's gonna be hard dial it down to simple
Lessons learned or failure (e.g forgetting lunch daily) prompts for change and thus creating a habit change
Separating habits from general task management tool
Change a few habits as possible (really ONE)
Habit stacking means there already chain of ESTABLISHED habit that you add to
Discipline to delay gratification
Establishing a new habit; create a goal that's achievable
Habit swapping ; using substation (same triggers/reward)
Use a reminder as location or time based to be alerted; sometimes alerts can fatigue; helps if most notifications are turned off
Checklists to drive the day
Doing more in the automated points in your life; so you do more when you fully engaged on others
New habits keep down to less than 3 continuous actions
Habits that you execute on less than daily basis
Keep a task example Thursday is laundry day
Using Logic if than than that
