Everyone,

The problems with not having the site ready rest with me. This should
be no reflection on the League, Sean, Ward or the Rookie Roundup
contest.

When Ward and Sean asked me if I'd like to do the contest, I was in
the middle of a re-write of Getscores. The site had not had any
changes in a long time. I thought I'd have enough time to be ready
for the 1st SSB event. As you know, that was not the case.

It was looking like we were going to make it. I won't make any
excuses -- it should have been ready. However, despite my best
effort, with the cycles of "spare" time available, I was not able to
get the job done.

More than 226 people registered to run in the contest. The time for
this concept has come.

If you are new to contesting, don't get discouraged by this glitch!
I've been playing the contest game over 30 years and am completely
addicted. I certainly wish I had had the site completed so that I
could have been on the air to work some of you. What's more
important is that many of you got on the air and made QSOs.

Over the coming weeks, I'll be completing the live logger, the live
status pages, and, hopefully with your help, we will get the bugs out
of the site and get it fully functional. I'm hearing rumors that
their may be a re-run of the RR SSB at a later date. That would be
great. In the meantime, if you have a short-duration event, I'd love
to hear more about it, and potentially use it with Getscores.

Gerry, W1VE

Hi Gerry - Well, I'd like you to know that I have never, ever missed a
deadline ;-) . Your candor and sense of responsibility are admirable.

As one of the very first users of the original getscores, I'm looking
forward to this new one. I hope you will get the score reporting back
on-line soon, so we can exercise it thoroughly before WPX CW. I was
reporting my RR score with the built-in capability in N1MM Logger, and
the site said it was updating successfully, but I never did figure out
where, if anywhere, reported scores were received. Evidently they were
not sent to KX9X, because my score did not show up on his list of scores
received.

As far as the live score validation capability, it seems to me (as an
outsider) that you have three distinct issues.
1. Finish and test the bare-bones client and the web-based logger
2. Get the N1MM Logger component finished so we can test it. I hope
you're working closely with N1MM and K1TTT on this - there's no point in
breaking any more crockery than necessary in the program itself. I'm
looking forward to it, because I want to participate in the experiment,
but not at the cost of
3. Clean up and clarify the presentation of this new capability on the
getscores website. I thought I knew what you were intending to do, but
I kept running into confusions between live *score* reporting and live
*validation.* In addition, there were/are some things on the site that
are anachronistic - for example, the uploader page
<http://www.getscores.org/universal.aspx> refers to it as a a Script for
Writelog 10+.

Again, not meaning to be critical - you're doing a good thing here!

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the feedback.

If you were using your own call to post to the site, you did not appear in the database.. yet lots of other N1MM users did.  Weird.
There was no scores page up during the contests.

Actually, I'm finishing in slightly different order:

1. The scores page.   This is a complete rework from the old page, and is quite complex (from the design side, not from the viewer's side).  The new page
has a very rich display, displays more information in a compact format, and provides historical data during the event.    Incorporated in that functionality
    is the URL filter mechanism:

    http://www.getscores.org/live/cq-wpx-ssb               Everybody in WPX SSB

Once the scores page is complete, you'll be able to run contests just like in the past.

2.  Is completion of the web-only logger.  This is very close to completion... in fact, it is the same page as the registration page, it was just not enabled as
    it was not complete.

3.  N1MM live log uploader.

4.

etc... there will be a lot of filters.

If you try and show results for a contest in the past, it will show you results for the completed event.   No more "disappear" when the event ends.

In addition, all updates are ajax, meaning the page does not go away and come back.

3.  N1MM live log uploader.

4.   Custom Windows client for ARRL-RR.
