Andy Burnham is the front-runner to become Prime Minister. He has backed electoral reform, further devolution of power out of Westminster, and more. That’s encouraging, but as we’ve seen in the past, it’s no guarantee this will happen if he becomes PM. And of course, we could yet see another challenger. Whoever takes the top job, we need to be ready to fight to fix our democracy. The first 100 days of the new PM needs to show it's not politics as usual. That means action on big money in politics, the voting system, on disinformation and foreign interference. The Representation of the People Bill can deliver all this, but only if we see a more ambitious approach. This will be their chance to put key democratic reforms into law well before the next General Election. Roger, the new Prime Minister will move quickly, so we must too. We need to do everything we can at this crucial moment, and we need you standing with us. Please will you help make a difference by chipping in to our First 100 Days Fund? |
