Dear Roger,With local elections taking place in many areas across England today, we will be crunching the numbers and sharing our analysis across the media and our own channels over the coming days. But today we want to hear from you, and your experience of feeling represented in your local area. From housing and transport, to parks and public services, decisions made by our local councils shape the places we live. But for many of us, voting doesn’t feel connected to those outcomes. When we talk about voting reform, the focus is often on Westminster. But the same problems exist much closer to home. Across England and Wales, local councils are elected using the same system – and just like in Parliament, the results often don’t reflect how people actually voted.
Do you feel your vote shapes what happens in your local area? It only takes a minute to have your say – and together we can build the case for a voting system that truly reflects our communities. Best wishes, The Electoral Reform Society team |
