Dear Roger,

What a week it's been. One week ago, we woke up to the least representative election results in Britain’s recent history. Now, it's looking like we might soon have our fifth Prime Minister in seven years.

Meanwhile, the Representation of the People Bill is due its third reading in the coming weeks, and there is still no provision to address the issue that's at the core of so many of our political problems: our broken voting system.

We are pulling out all the stops to change this.

Local Elections Report here

If you have been reading our emails recently, you will know we have been gathering evidence from the latest elections held under First Past the Post in this era of multi-party politics.

In collaboration with our incredible volunteers, and using data from the Democracy Club, we have pulled together a report packed with evidence that politicians cannot ignore: First Past the Post must be scrapped to avoid disaster for our democracy in 2029.

We found evidence of wrong winners, candidates elected despite 80% of people voting against them, parties taking 100% of council seats on just over 50% of the vote.

Read the report

With government ministers resigning, and the very real possibility of a new Prime Minister on the horizon, we want every politician in Westminster to know that the public are demanding that our government puts the country and our democracy first. This government MUST be the one that restores trust in democracy.

Please send this report to your member of parliament, even if you did not have elections in your area. You can either download the report, or you can print and deliver it to your MPs office, in person or by post.

With hope and dedication,

Emma

P.S. This report, alongside all the other vital work we are doing right now, all needs funding. You can support us here.
