BIG UPDATE to share! Also: urgent by-election advice

Dear tactical voter,

Happy November! Read on for how we, and the wider community, have been defending councils from Reform and fighting the good fight since our last newsletter. Plus urgent council by-election advice... and is your MP making your voice heard?

(...and how you can help us fight Reform too)

The Caerphilly By-Election: Our Impact

The Caerphilly Senedd by-election was a critical moment for Welsh politics, and thanks to the accurate advice we provided, Reform were kept at bay!

It's obvious there was a lot of tactical voting. But when multiple parties claim to be the tactical vote, how do people know which way to go?

The independent advice we provide is crucial. We were the only tactical voting website providing advice for the Caerphilly by-election and are the only site offering advice every week for local council by-elections.

Please donate so we can continue to keep Reform out of our government whether that’s local councils, the Senedd, Scottish parliament, or Westminster:

Why our independent work is crucial

We knew people would find it difficult to work out the tactical vote in Caerphilly. Both Labour and Plaid Cymru claimed it was them. Labour were previously in the strongest position, and voters may not have realised it was now Plaid. We worked hard to get our advice out there via social media ads, emails and leaflets.

Here’s a summary of what we did:

A list of stats from the Caerphilly by-election showing our impact

It's clear that tactical voting played a huge part in this election and we're proud to have led the effort here through our initial recommendation and subsequent awareness campaign. Our advice reached many times the margin of voters that defeated Reform, and shows the power we have when we work together for hope and change against hate and division.

Local Council By-Elections

Our focus now shifts back to the council by-elections that happen every week and of course the local elections next May where the fight against Reform will be a big one. You can view the upcoming ones here: StopReformUK.vote/elections and there are even some happening this coming Thursday!

If you’d like to support the work we do, please chip in what you can.

The power of reaching out to your MP

An MP’s job is to represent you in parliament. Make sure your MP knows what’s important to you and acts on your behalf!

Will You Fix - The problems with event tickets

Our friends at Field Level Tech (the non-profit behind the Influence Boost Awards and Will You Fix) are tackling the problems with event tickets. Ever tried to buy tickets for a popular concert, big match, or an exclusive gig? Either bots snap them up in seconds or you get hit with hidden fees and sky-high prices. Or worse - sometimes they turn out to be fake!

The government is planning to introduce new ticketing legislation, but their current plans don’t go far enough. And if MPs are taking gifts from the companies that profit from the current system, how can we trust them to make the changes necessary to fix it?

That’s why Will You Fix are asking MPs to make a clear, public promise: Pledge not to accept any donations from ticketing companies.

If you want to help fix the many problems with tickets, please sign the petition: WillYouFix.org

Ask your MP to attend an emergency climate briefing

As floods, fires and record-breaking heatwaves become ever more frequent, scientists are warning that the climate and nature crisis is proving more severe than first thought. The fossil fuel industry is pouring money into fuelling division to keep the nation distracted.

That’s why, on 27th November, eight of the UK’s most respected experts will gather in Westminster’s Central Hall for the National Emergency Briefing. This event will provide MPs and other national leaders with the clearest possible account of the escalating risks to our food, health, security and economy. They will then set out credible, science-based pathways to tackle the crisis, cutting through confusion and vested interests.

Please check whether your MP is signed up, and if not, ask them to be there.
