Poll of MPs finds unprecedented support Hi Roger,   Yesterday, LabourList published the results of a poll of MPs we commissioned from YouGov.   It revealed that 55% of Labour MPs want the Government to set up a National Commission on Electoral Reform, with just 29% against the idea.   This is the latest in a huge wave of press coverage over the last few days that just keeps on coming. We’ve included a round up of below.   But first, here’s what this means for our conference motion...   Remember, Labour Party rules mean that the more our motions refer to new developments since the start of August, the better. And this news about MP support is a major development.   So, we have amended our motion to include this point. Don’t worry if it’s too late to change yours - sending the original version is still brilliant!   But, if you are able to swap in the new version in North East Hertfordshire CLP, please do. It will just make this conference motion push that extra bit stronger.       Media round-up   This has been an amazing couple of days of campaign coverage ahead of the Report Stage of the Representation of the People Bill next week - where the record-breaking National Commission amendment will be heard.   Labour’s Mike Reader MP had a great interview on BBC Radio 4's Today Programme.     We made the frontpage of the Guardian yesterday, leading with Jess Elgot’s story which quoted six supportive Labour MPs. A second piece by Peter Walker provided further background.   Both Neal Lawson and Polly Toynbee have articles in the Guardian making the case for a National Commission - and to round it off the Guardian Editorial team themselves penned a supportive piece.     This was followed this morning by LabourList’s reveal that a majority of all MPs - and a larger majority of Labour MPs - now back a review of the voting system. It was accompanied by a morning email by LabourList's James Tibbitts backing a National Commission.   On top of that, there’s been a good but misleadingly-headlined article from Professor John Curtice reflecting on the parliamentary demand for Proportional Representation in the Telegraph.   There’s even been detailed write-ups in likes of the Daily Mail and Daily Express.   As Parliament prepares to return from summer recess, there has never been more momentum behind electoral reform.
