View this email in your browser Dear Roger,   We’re writing to share some exciting news: The Virginia General Assembly just passed a law to expand the Commonwealth’s ranked choice voting (RCV) pilot program. This makes Virginia the first state to adopt pro-RCV legislation this year, and we celebrate the hard work of our partners at UpVote Virginia and Ranked Choice Virginia!   Wins like these are only possible thanks to your support. Can you donate $25, $55, or $100 today so we can continue our work expanding ranked choice voting across the country?   Virginia’s law expands the number of localities in the Commonwealth that can use RCV, and makes the state’s pilot program permanent – so places using RCV can keep it without any “sunset date.”   The new Virginia law follows successful RCV rollouts in Arlington and Charlottesville. Both places have implemented RCV in local elections, giving voters more choices and more power. Voters say they want to continue using RCV. Article from Ranked Choice Virginia   Among the other recent milestones for RCV: The Los Angeles Charter Reform Commission voted to recommend RCV. The town of Newburgh, NY adopted proportional RCV under the New York Voting Rights Act. RCV language is included in a Maryland elections bill passed by its state legislature and now on the governor’s desk. Washington, DC is gearing up for its first use of RCV in June, with the Board of Elections, candidates, and community organizations working together to educate voters.   Please donate $25, $55, or $100 to FairVote Action today.
