Dear Roger, Parliamentary pressure to fix our broken democracy is growing. Since the chaotic local election results less than two weeks ago, our broken voting system has been a major talking point in Westminster and in the media.
Now, 70 MPs have signed an amendment calling for a National Commission to review it. This is very significant - but to make a real impact, we need even more MPs to join them. That's why we need your help today. |

Since the Representation of the People Bill was announced, we’ve worked closely with MPs in the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Fair Elections to influence it. The problems with our voting system have been repeatedly raised in the Chamber during debates about the Bill, and at Committee stage. So far, the government has refused to listen. Now, MPs have taken the next step. The APPG’s Chair Alex Sobel MP has tabled an amendment calling for a National Commission on Electoral Reform. Dozens more have already added their names.
We need as many MPs as possible to sign, showing the strength of support for change across Westminster. If your MP hasn’t signed it yet, can you email them and ask them to support the amendment? |

|
You can do this in a few simple clicks, using our tool above. However, we strongly encourage you to edit our example email or write your own, explaining why this issue matters to you. Please remember to first check here if your MP isn’t backing the amendment already. Our team regularly meets with MPs from across the political spectrum. We know our arguments land more strongly when MPs are hearing similar messages from their constituents.
We’re now in a really pivotal moment and your support is crucial. That’s why, we’re asking you to take a moment right now to contact your MP - and please let us know if you hear back! This simple action can bring us one step closer to winning Proportional Representation at a time when the failures of First Past the Post are more obvious than ever before. |
