Hi,

What is the status of PloneGetPaid. It seems to have gone comatose.

I have just been experimenting with customising it for my application.
It is quite impressive. It also worked when I installed it on Plone 4.0.3.

However, I am a bit worried about the state of the project...

The plonegetpaid.com website is gone.
The user contributed docs on
http://plone.org/products/getpaid/documentation are all years old.
Few docs in the wiki are under a year old.
There are few checkins under subversion.
114 open issues.

Before I invest time and effort implementing my requirements, is this
project viable? There are 200 subscribers to this list. Are you still
using PloneGetPaid? Have you switched to Satchmo, LFS or something else?

Thanks

Kevin

Hi,

I still use Plone Getpaid and it works very well in Plone 4.0.3

But I am studyin pcommerce because of the implementation of product
variations, essencial for selling tshirts (different sizes, colors, etc)...

thanks,

Rafael

We have implemented it twice - once in early days and once a year ago.

In both occasions it was tricky to do what we wanted and required significant customisation - I think largely because of sparse/contradictory documentation, no clear release or recipe roadmap/history, lack of response from the forums, and code of very variable quality. Shame.

In both cases we ended up making our own (simpler, specialised) applications.

Hi Kevin,
I've tried using getpaid about 2 years ago & ended up going for a
simpler solution.

More recently, I was at the Plone 2010 conference in October & in the
following talk (External E-commerce and Plone playing )
given by Sasha Vincic, he makes a case for not adding products to
Plone
but rather adding Services in order to smooth your future upgrade
path.

http://plone.blip.tv/file/4317834/ (he starts talking at 05:40)

( See some more notes on the talk here:
http://www.rickhurst.co.uk/2010/10/31/plone-conference-2010-day-2/)

I'd like to know if anyone on this mailing list disagrees with Sasha's
general approach/line-of-argument?

regards,
Daniel
