imposing steady current

Dear all,

When prescribing boundary conditions, my understanding is that elev/u/v (Flather) or elev (clamped) should be used for bdy_2d. I have encountered the following two issues:

- In an idealized open channel, how to impose a steady, uni-directional current with known inlet depth-averaged velocity (u and v), while elev is kept constant?
- How to impose logarithmic velocity profile (baroclinic velocities uu and vv) at the inlet using bdy_3d, again keeping elev constant?

Upon some testing, it seems that there must be changes of elev to drive the current. If this is correct, can I assume that the above two scenarios are impossible in GETM?

Your inputs would be much appreciated.

Jay
