dear all
I need some info about the effect of changing following parameters in getm.inp
bdyramp_2d
ip_ramp
spinup

I am using GETM to studying the circulation in the North Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Oman.
forcing with 10m wind and tide time series on open boundary by clamp condition.
measurements shows some gyres in this area but some of them does not show in model result and some other damp rapidly.
I think that changing the mentioned value could improve the results. how do these parameters related to my domain?
as my studied area is 12*26 degree I used: Longitude=60, Latitude=19 and f-plan=true in getm.inp

thank you
Mahmood

These parameters should not have an effect on your production
simulations, since they are only important for the spinup phase.

Are these gyres barotropic driven or are they baroclinic?

Why do you set f_plane=true. You cover a rather large domain and
therefore the variations in f might be important.

I had a look into your getm.inp.
Why do you set runtype=4 (full baroclinic simulations) but switch of the
calculation of T/S:
calc_temp = .false.,
calc_salt = .false., ?

Do you really know, what you are doing?

dear Ulf
thank you.

these are baroclinic driven, in my last run that I attached its
getm.inp the are disappeared.

I had misunderstood of the effect of this parameter. Ill change it to
false.

these changes were made in my last test to find if it possible that
these files prepared uncorrectly or not.
also I have one question on this part, I have not enough salinity and
temperature profile on my domain to make 3d file for them, how can I
prepare them for using in my model?

If you need temperature and salinity fields from global running models,
have a look at:
http://hycom.org/dataserver/glb-analysis
This is the global HYCOM model running from 2003-- with a spatial
resolution of 1/12 degree.

If you need longer periods, have a look here:
http://dss.ucar.edu/datasets/ds093.1/
This is the gloabl NCEP model running from 1979--.
